Keanu Reeves may be entering the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a role in The Eternals.

As it heads towards its late summer production start, The Eternals continues to build its cast, which already includes the likes of Angelina Jolie and Richard Madden. Now the upcoming Marvel Studios’ film is reportedly pursuing another big name.

According to MCU Cosmic, Keanu Reeves is in talks to join Marvel’s The Eternals. The trade mentions that a deal is not yet done, as negotiations are still early. And of course, the role he’s being considered for is currently unknown. His casting would mark his first comic book film since 2005’s Constantine, and his first MCU film.

Reeves would join a film that already includes the aforementioned Jolie and Madden, along with Kumail Nanjiani and Ma Dong Seok. The movie is directed by Chloé Zhao from a screenplay by Matthew and Ryan Firpo.

More from Marvel Cinematic Universe

Not much is known about The Eternals, especially since Marvel Studios has yet to formally announce the project. Still, studio head Kevin Feige did confirm last year that the film was in some stage of development. Since then, he’s also mentioned that the story could span tens of thousands of years and feature a large roster of characters. Other reports have mentioned that the movie will focus on the romance between the characters of Sersi and Ikaris, who will be played by Jolie and Madden, respectively. Character breakdowns have also indicated that characters like Starfox and Druig will also appear.

With so many reported characters, it’s hard to predict who Reeves could play in the film. But given his background, it’s likely to be a role that involves some level of physicality. Fans have wanted to see Reeves  join the Marvel Cinematic Universe for a while now, and it looks like they’ll finally get their wish.
