Michiel Huisman as Mastermind

The Mutant Master Illusionist Mastermind was nowhere to be found in the Fox franchise. He was one of the mutants forgotten by Fox but shouldn’t be with Disney. It’s a shame that Fox didn’t carve out more time for “The Dark Phoenix Saga.”

If they had, we would have seen Mastermind and gotten a better story. Neither Last Stand nor Dark Phoenix depicted the other side of the Phoenix Saga. The story where he manipulated Jean into marrying him.

Mastermind is also part of the original Brotherhood of Evil Mutants formed by Magneto. He battles the X-Men and even forms his own version of the group.

The X-Men v the Brotherhood is a classic story we haven’t seen told in live-action. Mastermind would make a solid supporting character with major ramifications for the team.

There’s enough vagueness in his comic book history to allow them to tell whatever story they want.  Mastermind is a character that Disney can use, and it will feel fresh.

Michiel Huisman is known as the oldest Crane in Haunted Hill House and as Daario Naharis Game of Thrones. Huisman also starred alongside Blake Lively in The Age of Adeline. Because of his acting prowess, he would make Mastermind a masterpiece.
