After conflicting headlines of Ezra Miller and his status as The Flash, we finally have a confirmation the movie is proceeding.

The standalone Flash movie had many false starts, after the latest development, which involved Ezra Miller joining forces with comic book writer, Grant Morrison, to pen the script of his superhero life; rumors had circled round that the Fantastic Beasts star may be done with The Flash.

Recently, it has been confirmed by Variety that Miller will shoot The Flash movie for the DCEU after the follow-up to a Harry Potter spin-off; Fantastic Beasts in its third installment has completed filming. Miller’s character, Credence Barebone, has been revealed to have a lineage that is integral to the next film, Fantastic Beasts 3. Therefore, Miller will be unavailable for the majority of next year.

Among the speculation, aside from Miller allegedly on the way out of the project, a new rumor has sprouted that the bigwigs at Warner Bros. is considering swapping the character of Barry Allen (Miller) with his successor, Wally West. Apparently, an unnamed source close to We Got This Covered has informed the pop culture news site that there is an idea rolling around that Wally will interject early in The Flash, serving as a sort of contingency in case Miller departs.

As WGTC claims, this is open to suggestion but completely goes against what Variety stated in their list. Perhaps, but may not be as likely, it could be more trouble brewing from behind the scenes. For all the insiders know, it could be Warner Bros. way of saving face, although the prior mentioned film magazine is more reputable, so take what has been said about slotting Wally into the DCEU with a pinch of salt.

From a story standpoint, they would have to devote all the attention on Wally, his connection with his sister, Iris West (Kiersey Clemons) and give an explainer as to what happened to Barry (presumably until that point to be portrayed by a different actor) in a sub-plot. Even from a business and marketing strategy, it does not make sense.

What is known is that Miller had creative differences with directors Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley, which is the reason why Miller brought Morrison in the first place, they had submitted a draft of the film script. Unfortunately, it is something Warner Bros. did not want to move forward with it. Things, as it seems, has worked out now, and hopefully for the better.
