Rumor: Vanessa Kirby is on the shortlist to play Catwoman in The Batman
There was Vanessa Hudgens then Aubrey Plaza, but Vanessa Kirby is on the shortlist to play Catwoman.
Matt Reeves’ The Batman seems to be coming together while, regrettably, another pit stop has hit the solo Flash movie, with Bumblebee and Birds of Prey scribe, Christina Hodson, tapped to pen the script and Andy Muschietti, in negotiations to direct, in effect, replacing filmmaker duo John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein. Based on a new report, we may have our Catwoman in Mission: Impossible – Fallout’s Vanessa Kirby.
With the report of an alleged synopsis for The Batman, things appear to line up. Geeks WorldWide (GWW) reports that Kirby may in fact be on writer/director Matt Reeves’ shortlist to portray Selina Kyle/Catwoman. It’s worth mentioning that the writer, who gave the exclusive is the same person who provided insider knowledge as to the names that were on the shortlist to play Bruce Wayne/Batman before Robert Pattinson had been cast. The names included Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Nicholas Hoult, who was later revealed to be in the running.

GWW, mind you, are the same geek culture website that have not refuted the claims that multiple villains in Batman’s rogue’s gallery will appear as well as Catwoman and The Penguin. GWW has also confirmed The Riddler and Firefly. However, in regard to how everything may be shaping up during the production of The Batman, things can easily change during the process between pre-production and principal photography.
Kirby has appeared in two seasons of The Crown as Princess Margaret and is set to appear in the Fast and Furious spin-off, Hobbs and Shaw. What Kirby makes up for in lack of international appeal, she makes up for in performance. Although, Aubrey Plaza could be a more suitable fit in the role.
