5. Earth-84 Supergirl

Portrayed by: Helen Slater

Okay, so maybe we don’t definitively know that Helen Slater’s Supergirl lives on Earth-84, but if John Wesley Shipp’s Flash from the 1990 TV series inhabits Earth-90, it’s a safe bet that the classic Girl of Steel is still flying herself around the 84th Earth in the multiverse.

Though the Supergirl film wasn’t received all that well, it’s still an unmistakable piece of history. The fact of the matter is that, in an era where we can celebrate the ever-growing amount of female-led superhero movies and TV shows, we should be paying tribute to the first ever female-led superhero movie.

It’s a good thing that the Arrowverse is so great at paying tribute to what came before. And what makes the possibility of Slater’s Supergirl showing up all the more exciting is the fact that Slater herself currently portrays Kara’s adoptive mother, Eliza Danvers, on the Supergirl TV series. Thus, it should be relatively easy to make happen.

In fact, Arrow co-executive producer Marc Guggenheim revealed to /Film at the Television Critics Association winter press tour that he’d love to have Slater reprise her film role in the crossover, commenting:

"“I happen to love the Supergirl movie and I remember the first time I saw it. I would love for her to reprise her role. We’re feeling out a lot of our various parameters in terms of what can we afford and what do we have story for? Can this be a cameo? Can this be a full on story? It’s just this ongoing conversation. We started the crossover earlier than we ever have precisely so we could have these conversation.”"

With that in mind, could we see Earth-84’s Supergirl make her presence felt? Is she really the doppelganger of Eliza Danvers? Let’s hope we find out!
