4. Earth-90 Flash

Portrayed by: John Wesley Shipp

John Wesley Shipp is part of the very fabric of the Flash character, and it would be preposterous to have the Arrowverse’s long-teased Crisis without him involved. That said, while he has made valuable contributions to The CW’s The Flash over the years in his roles as Henry Allen and Jay Garrick, it’s his least-explored character that should make an appearance.

Wesley Shipp’s iconic iteration of Barry Allen/The Flash from the beloved 1990 TV series was teased as long back as The Flash‘s second season, when Grant Gustin’s Earth-1 iteration of the character travelled through the Speed Force and saw him. Flash-forward three years, and the veteran Flash was officially welcomed into the Arrowverse as the Flash of Earth-90 during last season’s Elseworlds crossover.

It was nothing short of amazing to see the legendary actor back in that iconic Flash suit, but the sad part about it is that we didn’t get to see all that much of him. Though we were told that his Earth had failed The Monitor’s tests, he did not – making his way to Earth-1 to help Green Arrow, The Flash and Supergirl. Unfortunately, The Monitor made him vanish in a ball of smoke – presumably taking him back to Earth-90. Well, now it’s time for him to return.

As we’ve seen from some of the previous casting announcements, Crisis On Infinite Earths is about more than just honoring Arrowverse characters, it’s about honoring the entire legacy of the DC Universe itself. Thus, it goes without saying the ’90s Flash should be honored – especially since the character has now been welcomed into the Arrowverse.
