To celebrate The Eternals’ upcoming live-action debut in the MCU, Marvel is set to drop two books to get readers up to speed.

With The Eternals, currently being adapted into live-action, as part of Phase Four of the MCU, Marvel Comics is planning to bring the somewhat lesser-known property into the spotlight before the film arrives.

As revealed by Comicbook.com, Marvel will launch two books in December that will get every newcomer up to speed on the group. The first is a reprint of Jack Kirby’s Eternals No.1, which is the very first appearance of the angelic, humanoid group of beings. It was originally released in 1976.

The next title is called Eternals: Secrets From The Marvel Universe. This feature is a collection of What If? issues from No.23 to No.30, which is part of the storyline, the Untold Tales of the Marvel Universe. This volume features stories that expose the untold tale behind the Eternals’ history and how they factored into the Inhuman royal family.

With a recent rumor suggesting Inhumans may possibly receive a TV reboot, the latter may be even more aptly-timed as it would also allow newcomers to digest some history on the Inhumans before those characters eventually receive another reimagining.

While the Inhumans are offshoots of humanity with the genetic potential to demonstrate abilities deemed extraordinary, the Eternals are an evolutionary experiment on mankind set upon by the ancient, superior race of aliens known as the Celestials that distinguished them from early man and the loathsome Deviants – and now fans will get a chance to know them better before the film arrives.

Starring Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Lauren Ridloff, Brian Tyree Henry, Salma Hayek, Lia McHugh, Don Lee, Gemma Chan, Barry Keoghan and Kit Harington. The Eternals is directed by Chloé Zhao with a screenplay penned by Matthew K. Firpo and Ryan Firpo. It will blast into theaters Nov. 6, 2020.
