The Girl of Steel meets her new enemy (and pulls an Iron Man with her new brand new suit) in the new trailer for Supergirl’s season premiere “Event Horizon”.

It’s safe to say that the fifth season of Supergirl has generated quite a lot of buzz – and that’s before it has even started!

A season that is primed to take the Girl of Steel’s triumphant adventures into new territory, the show will finally tackle Lena Luthor’s feelings of betrayal over the fact that Kara never told her that she’s Supergirl and introduce a brand new suit for good measure. That said, there hasn’t been an awful lot of talk about the show’s Big Bad this year.

There’s always a lot of intrigue surrounding the main villain of an Arrowverse series, and yet it feels like we just haven’t been talking about who it is. Of course, it’s more than likely Leviathan (which was teased in the Season 4 finale) but then there’s also Midnight – who we know will show up but simply hasn’t been featured in all that much promotional material.

Thankfully, we don’t have to wait any longer to find out more about her, as The CW has released a brand new trailer for the Season 5 premiere “Event Horizon”, which reveals some insightful details. Check it out below:

The trailer heavily focuses on the growing issues between Kara and Lena, as the latter will somehow seek to gain her own form of revenge on her former best friend without actually hurting her in the process.

While that may seem pretty fair, the fact that the show is continuing to tease Lena’s dance with darkness suggests that we’re only beginning to understand the full extent of the pain she’s feeling. Will it be the thing that finally leads her down that dark path?

Midnight, portrayed by Jennifer Cheon Garcia, also makes her presence felt, arriving from an alternate dimension or planet in a bid to seek vengeance on those around her. Could Leviathan have brought her there?

Regardless of how she arrived, she proves to be quite the formidable foe as she uses her dark power to, by the looks of things, destroy Kara’s cape.

This all results in Brainy gifting her with a new suit – a suit that just so happens to materialize. And even though it’s nice to see Kara channeling her inner Tony Stark (with a suit that looks amazing), we’ll still miss the iconic trademark House-of-El symbol reveal every time she made a quick change!
