Don’t miss eye-popping billboards of Birds of Prey all across the city, a display of Harley’s movie costumes, an art exhibition dedicated to the character, and an early look at the adult animated action-comedy series Harley Quinn.

Harley has grown from strength to strength in comics, rightly becoming a fan-favourite for many comic readers. To celebrate the character’s influence, DC has brought together several creators currently working on titles featuring Harley for the panel “Harley Quinn in Comics”.

More from Conventions And Shows

The creators on the panel include Harley Quinn: Breaking Glass writer Mariko Tamaki and artist Steve Pugh, Harley Quinn writer Sam Humphries and artist Sami Basri, Joker/Harley: Criminal Sanity writer Kami Garcia and artists Mico Suayan and Mike Mayhew, Harley Quinn: Villain of the Year writer Mark Russell, and the team behind the new Birds of Prey comic series Brian Azzarello, Emanuela Lupacchino and Ray McCarthy.

Once known only for being the Joker’s psychotic girlfriend, Harley as a character has evolved into being a popular figure, beloved by fans across the spectrum. She is considered a feminist icon for breaking free from her toxic relationship with the Joker and a queer icon for being openly in love with Poison Ivy.

How much of these aspects of the character will be featured in the new Harley properties remains to be seen but, nowadays, Harley is a massive selling point for DC. It’s no wonder, then, that she’s being heavily promoted at NYCC.
