3. Resolved Loose Ends

As hinted to in the previous point, the Ant-Man franchise has set up a few plot threads that have yet to pay off. The first would have to be SHIELD traitor Mitchell Carson snagging the vile of Pym Particles for HYDRA during the first movie’s third act. Neither Reed nor Marvel has publicly discussed revisiting this story but, as mentioned, it could be to their benefit to do so.

There’s also the matter of Hank’s old colleague, Dr. Bill Foster, and his semi-adopted daughter Ava Starr (a.k.a. Ghost). When we last left them, Ava got help in maintaining her phasing abilities (more on that in a second), and the two subsequently went on the run. Ending their stories at this point would be surprising Actress Hannah John-Kamen has even hinted that this won’t be the end for Ghost. Ava, who appears to be on the path to becoming a hero, could return to assist Scott and Hope, with Foster accompanying her. Speaking of Bill, we’ve still never gotten a definite answer as to whether he was Goliath at some point in his life. His involvement with “a project called ‘G.O.L.I.A.T.H.’” was teased but never explored. Maybe an Ant-Man 3 could dive into his superhero past.

Finally, the third film can shed light on Janet’s time in the Quantum Realm and exactly how she gained those powers she used to heal Ava. She may have learned things that could prove to be important to the future of the MCU as a whole.
