Rumor: Inhumans to be rebooted at Marvel Studios
By Erik Swann
A former Inhumans star may have let it slip that the property is set to be revived by Marvel Studios.
Inhumans was arguably Marvel Television’s biggest misfire in its string of shows meant to be connected to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The short-lived series debuted to poor ratings and negative reviews before it was swiftly canceled by ABC. Yet some may remember the project was originally conceived as a film from Marvel Studios. And it looks like they may just be planning to reclaim the franchise.
Anson Mount, who played Black Bolt on Inhumans, was a guest at Dallas Fan Days, and ComicBook.com heard him seemingly confirm rumors of a reboot. According to Mount, the property is currently being considered for a revival on Disney Plus. He also added that Marvel even have someone in mind for his character already:
"“People might not know this, but in the sort of Hollywood trades, there’s rumored to be a negotiation going on with Disney+ to reattempt this. And apparently… it’s well-known that Vin [Diesel] has always wanted to play Black Bolt, so there’s some kind of negotiations going on.”"
It was previously reported that Marvel Studios was mulling over an Inhumans reboot but wouldn’t move forward on the project immediately if it were greenlit. Mount’s new comments seem to indicate that a reboot is close to being a sure thing and could be coming sooner than we think.

As previously mentioned, Inhumans was originally part of Marvel Studios’ Phase Three slate announced in 2014, with the studio using a screenplay from Black Panther’s Joe Robert Cole, Plans changed, however, in 2016 around the time Marvel’s TV and film hierarchies were reorganized.
Inhumans is a franchise that has a fair amount of potential, and Marvel Studios probably knows this. It features classic characters with interesting abilities, and introducing them would expand on the cosmic side of MCU. Some rumors have even indicated that they could be part of the Inhuman Ms. Marvel’s live-action debut.
Whether or not these reboot talks lead to something is anyone’s guess at this point, but it wouldn’t be surprising if the Royal Family returns in some form or another.
