Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse sequel set for 2022

A sequel to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is coming in 2022!

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was a hit in theaters, winning both an Oscar and a Golden Globe in 2019. More importantly, it was a beloved by movie and comic book fans. The animation was beautiful and bright and the story was stupendous. In addition to that, the characters were amazing.

Of course, Miles Morales was great leading the way. But there was also Benjamin B. Parker and Gwen Stacy, who both featured layered personality. And of course, Spider-Ham and Spider-Man Noir added humor to moments that were sometimes incredibly bleak. The movie ended with a cliffhanger, as Miguel O’Hara (Spider-Man 2099) made a time jump to the first Spider-Man cartoon’s universe.

This left audiences wondering about plans for the future Well, the future is coming, as Marvel has officially announced that a sequel to Into the Spider-Verse is officially set for April 8, 2022:

Along with the announcement of the upcoming sequel, Marvel.com released a statement about their return to Miles Morales’ world:

There are seemingly unlimited options for the Spider-Beings we could see. We can assume that Spider-Man 2099 will be involved. We can also hope that Spider-Man from the 1967 cartoon. There are also Spider-Beings like black suit Spider-Man, six-armed Spider-Man, and maybe even some that we’ve never seen. Hopefully, Sony and Marvel with the Inheritors as the main villains, as they could be the biggest threat to every Spider-Being in the Multiverse.

The movie may not have been a massive box office hit, but it’s adored by everyone who’s seen it. One can assume this movie will have a bigger budget than its predecessor and receive a wider release. Look for this movie to keep the same deep storyline and darker tone. After the success of the original, it’s safe to assume that this film will have no problem attracting even more big-name talent for its roster.
