Robert Pattinson has begun training for The Batman
Robert Pattinson has officially started his preparation for The Batman.
It’s time for Batman to fly (glide?), again. After his appearances in Batman v. Superman and Justice League, Bruce Wayne is getting a new shot at a live-action adventure in The Batman. Directed by Matt Reeves, the movie will pit a young Caped Crusader (Robert Pattinson) against some of his most dangerous adversaries like The Riddler (Paul Dano), and he’ll even cross paths with Catwoman (Zoë Kravitz) for the first time since 1992’s Batman Returns.
There are certain requirements that come with playing Batman: the jaw, the voice and of course, the killer bod. Naturally, audiences have been eagerly waiting to see Robert Pattinson get into fighting shape to play Gotham’s favorite (and sometimes most hated) superhero.
With the movie coming to theaters in June 2021, preparation for the role has begun. Recently, trainer Rigan Machado took to Instagram to share a picture of himself working out with Pattinson:
For those unfamiliar with Machado, he’s worked with celebrities like Bradley Cooper, Ashton Kutcher and Bloodshot himself, Vin Diesel.
In late October, during an interview shared on Twitter by user @Ibabysky, Pattinson stated he was in the very early stages of getting into shape.
Going by this new Instagram post, it seems the transformation is now fully underway.

That’s probably the question on everyone’s minds. As mentioned above, Batman is known for his enviable physique. However, his appearance varies from comic to comic (see All-Star Batman & Robin and The Dark Knight Returns) and film to film (as was the case with Batman v Superman and The Dark Knight Trilogy). There are versions that depict the Dark Knight as a bulking figure capable of giving Luke Cage a run for his money, while other interpretations depict him as a lean, limber individual.
It’s pretty hard to tell which version Reeves and Pattinson are going for but, considering the actor’s build and the fact that the movie will focus on a relatively young version of the character, it’s probably safe to assume this new Bruce Wayne will sport a leaner figure. There are arguments to be made on both sides regarding which shape best fits the character.
However, seeing how the Caped Crusader is a master martial artist, acrobat and all-around Olympic-level athlete, it makes sense for him to be lean. After all, as The Dark Knight Returns proved, Batman being a bulky guy isn’t necessarily helpful when it comes to being stealthy.
The Batman flies into theaters on June 25, 2021.
