Ironheart is reportedly headed to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in her own television series.

Marvel is steadily adding to its already-expansive roster of characters, with heroes like the Eternals, Shang-Chi and She-Hulk on their way to the MCU. Now, it appears the studio is looking to add another fresh face.

MCU Cosmic reports that a series centered on Riri Williams/Ironheart is currently in early development at Marvel Studios. The trade mentions that a film is a possibility, but the current plan is to introduce in a TV series before adding her to a film.

This isn’t the first time there have been reports of a project starring Riri Williams, as an unproduced Ironheart screenplay even surfaced on The Blacklist. Robert Downey Jr. has also voiced his support in seeing the young, armored heroine in the MCU.

Williams made her comic book debuted in a cameo in Invincible Iron Man Vol. 2 No. 7 in 2016, before making a formal appearance in issue No. 9. The character was created by former Marvel scribe Brian Michael Bendis, who conceived her as a 15-year-old prodigy studying engineering at MIT. It was during her time in college that she developed her own Iron Man suit in her dorm room. Riri soon foiled an escape at a New Mexico prison and caught the eye of Tony Stark, who would support her intention to become a superhero.

After Stark was beaten into a coma by Captain Marvel during Civil War II, Williams filled his role, eventually taking on the Ironheart moniker. She’s since become a fan-favorite and joined the teen, superhero team known as the Champions.

With younger heroes like Kate Bishop and Kamala Khan joining the MCU, it’s only natural that Riri Williams wouldn’t be too far behind. Any kind of project involving her is probably far off, but she’ll likely be a key part of this new generation of characters.
