The mask of the late Darth Vader has popped up in a scene with Rey in the teaser for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

With December rolling just down the road, the path to the end of a four-decade-long saga is upon us, as the marketing campaign for Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker is in full throttle. And things are heating up even more, as a new teaser just dropped online. And with that, came an Easter egg.

Digital Spy, reported the release of this particular teaser and made note of one aspect of the trailer. In one scene, Rey is shown walking near the remnants of Darth Vader’s helmet. From her expression, she is transfixed in horror at the sight of it in the brief shot.

The Rise of Skywalker, through the trailers following  the initial teaser, have been hinting at the struggle Rey will have, as she is caught between keeping the promise of paying tribute to her mentor’s (Luke Skywalker’s) legacy or giving into the dark side from the likes of Kylo Ren and his Knights of Ren.

While the official trailer did hint at the conflict between Rey and Kylo Ren, especially after the social-media craze over Dark Rey cracking the web streams, this marks the first time that the conflict between our last Jedi and newly-crowned Supreme Leader’s conflict has been put at the forefront in promotional material.
