Taika Waititi is bringing in another voice for Thor: Love and Thunder.
Taika Waititi is getting some help with Thor: Love and Thunder, as Variety reports that Jennifer Kaytin Robinson has boarded the project as co-writer. According to the trade, the Academy Award-winning writer/director is now focused on the superhero sequel. Robinson’s hiring represents a step forward in his creative process. As of right now, Marvel Studios hasn’t commented on the matter.
Robinson entered the TV sphere as the creator, producer and writer of the short-lived Sweet/Vicious, which aired on MTV for one season in 2016 before being canceled. She then made the jump to film when she wrote, produced and directed the romantic comedy Someone Sweet for Netflix. That film debuted to mostly positive reviews.

Plot details on Thor: Love and Thunder are currently being kept under wraps. However, at last summer’s San Diego Comic-Con, it was announced that Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster will return and become Lady Thor alongside Chris Hemsworth’s God of Thunder. During the same event, Tessa Thompson, who plays Valkyrie, also revealed that her character will be searching for her queen after being named the king of New Asgard. Having these two characters in major roles may have been one of Waititi’s reasons for bringing Robinson into the fold.
In addition to the familiar faces, the film will also introduce a new character played by Christian Bale. While his part is currently unknown, reports are pegging him for a villainous role.
2017’s Thor: Ragnarok proved to be a hit for Marvel, with many believing it revitalized the franchise. In crafting this latest installment, Waititi not only aims to recapture Ragnarok‘s comedic spirit but to also double down on it. Production on Thor: Love and Thunder is set to begin later this year ahead of its release on November 5, 2021.
