Rumor: Marvel wants Alison Brie-type to play Jennifer Walters in She-Hulk
Marvel Studios is rumored to be looking to Alison Brie as their template for She-Hulk’s alter-ego – Jennifer Walters.
Being a legacy character, if you will, derived from Dr. Bruce Banner/The Hulk – naturally the search for an actress to play Jennifer Walters is ongoing. Though according to insider Daniel Richtman (via Knight Edge Media), it now seems Marvel Studios is narrowing down their choice, as the studio is reportedly courting an Alison Brie-type for the role. The site also mentions that Brie herself could also be in the running for the role.
Recent She-Hulk casting reports pointed to the studio is “open to all ethnicities” and looking for someone who has “comedic chops.” They were also specific about Walters’ occupation as a lawyer, including her also potentially becoming an Avenger down the line. The age range is also listed as being between 26 and 34.
While Brie is herself 37, Marvel would not let a couple of digits affect what is paramount, and that is her acting ability. Brie has quite a few accolades under her belt and, judging from her portrayal of Ruth Wilder aka Zoya the Destroya on the Netflix sports comedy-drama GLOW, she would have the physicality aspect of the role down pact, which would be important if she’s portraying her more evergreen alter-ego through motion capture.
