As we eagerly anticipate Lucifer’s next season on Netflix, the showrunners at the helm are already strapped in for a potential Season 6.

Lucifer’s return to the airwaves from cancelation and its simultaneous fourth season debut on Netflix last year both made for a rousing success. The season was met with generally positive reviews and was Netflix’s most binged program for five weeks straight after it premiered. Needless to say, the show was a hit with the streaming community.

Such a hit, in fact, that after the show was already renewed for a 10-episode fifth season, another six episodes were added to the upcoming season for a total of 16 episodes that are expected to be released in two batches. It’s also worth mentioning that the fifth season was expected to be the show’s final season, but that might not be the case anymore.

TVLine is reporting now that the co-showrunners of Lucifer, Ildy Modrovich and Joe Henderson, have now inked new deals to return at the helm for a potential sixth season if Netflix does decide to renew it, which seems possible at the moment.

More from News

The only thing stopping Netflix from renewing the show again is the star and title character of Lucifer, Tom Ellis. Ellis has yet to sign a contract for a sixth season, as negotiations are still underway between the actor and Warner Bros. Television.

However, all of the Lucifer fans out there can rest assured, as TVLine also reports that all parties involved are expecting a positive outcome, meaning Ellis is expected to sign a new contract. So at this point, it’s only a matter of time for a new season gets the green light
