4. What is the purpose (or the point) of Kevin’s tickling storyline?

Poor Kevin Keller just can’t catch a break.

His first fleeting romance ended up getting soured as his boyfriend got caught up in a murder investigation (and was subsequently killed), while the same almost happened to his second. He then found himself brainwashed by Edgar Evernever’s Farm in a storyline that never felt like it had the stakes or believability that the writers wanted it to have – but hey, at least he had the beginnings of a storyline through his new relationship with Fangs Fogarty, right?

Nope! After The Farm storyline came to an end, Kevin and Fangs broke up and while it looked like the writers were finally going to give them a proper chance by having them start over without The Farm’s interference, it all went awry when Kevin was coerced into a strange tickle porn/fetish narrative instead.

While this lent itself nicely to the return of Nick St. Clair – as it allowed Kev, Fangs and Toni to get revenge on him for what he did to Cheryl – it still lacks a purpose, or a point in general. It’s also creepy and unnecessary.

Why is everyone in Riverdale so strange? And why does Kevin keep ending up in these weird circumstances without any explanation as to why or development to at least make them make sense?

Can’t we just have a Kevin/Fangs romance that allows them some screen-time without the unnecessarily weird baggage that seems to come with all of Kevin’s stories? Is that too much to ask?
