It seems that the Spirit of Vengeance is not done just yet as a new rumor suggests that Ghost Rider could return to the MCU in some form or another.

It sounds like Ghost Rider will get another go in the MCU as insider Daniel Richtman via The Direct is reporting that a project centered on Ghost Rider is indeed being developed for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, it is not yet clear as to whether it will be a feature film or a live-action TV series.

Before Marvel TV folded into Marvel Studios, there was a Ghost Rider series in development at Hulu with Gabriel Luna set to reprise his role as Robbie Reyes (after making an appearance during the fourth season of Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD).

Marvel’s The Punisher showrunner, Steve Lightfoot, was previously attached to the unproduced Hulu series that was unfortunately axed as Kevin Feige reportedly had other plans for Ghost Rider. That decision left Helstrom as the only live-action Marvel series to be released on Hulu and it is expected to debut sometime later this year.

More from Marvel

With previous Hulu Marvel shows Cloak & Dagger and Runaways coming to an end, Marvel’s future on Hulu has been up in the air. Of the adult-themed animated series previously announced, Marvel’s Tigra & Dazzler Show went the way of Ghost Rider (out the door) and was put on indefinite hold due to its showrunner departing after reaching a creative impasse.

There are few details about this potential new Ghost Rider project, whether or not it will resume on Hulu or be placed on Disney Plus is not known. What is known is that it will unlikely be the Robbie Reyes incarnation we have grown accustomed to, so could we possibly see the first full appearance of Johnny Blaze in the MCU as foreshadowed in Agents of SHIELD in the past?

It would be interesting to find out what Blaze has been doing all this time since he passed on the Spirit of Vengeance to Reyes.

Nonetheless, a new Ghost Rider project could certainly learn a lot from previous adaptations, and it’s going to be exciting to see how it progresses moving forward.
