Smallville’s Kristin Kreuk shares her thoughts on the new Lana Lang in Superman and Lois
Smallville’s Kristin Kreuk sounds excited about Emmanuelle Chriqui taking over the Lana Lang role in Superman and Lois.
It was recently revealed that The CWs Superman and Lois have their Lana Lang in Emmanuelle Chriqui. Now, her predecessor, Kristin Kreuk – who stepped into the shoes of the fan-favorite character on the Superman–inspired series Smallville – told TVLine that she is excited in passing on the torch.
Kreuk, who is currently headlining The CW’s legal Canadian drama series Burden of Truth, spoke about the prospect of another actor taking on the role of Lana Lang, even acknowledging that the version set to debut in the Arrowverse on Superman & Lois is different to the character she depicted.
In response to a question revolving around the new Lana Lang character within the Superman series, Kreuk enthusiastically commented:
"“I don’t know a ton about the show, but it sounds like it’s going to be a lot of fun. She’s a great character, and with the freedom that’s afforded creators right now in regards to comic book characters, I think they can adjust and adapt her into a more modern position in the world.”"
Superman and Lois, which sees Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch reprise their Supergirl roles as the world’s most famous superhero and DC’s most respected journalist and was ordered straight to series and will air in January 2021.

Todd Helbing, known for working on The Flash, is writing the series and serves as executive producer with Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and Geoff Johns. It will feature Lana Lang-Cashing – a married forty-something loan officer at Smallville Bank. She will at some point re-establish contact Clark Kent aka Superman.
The character descriptions, first reported by The Illuminerdi, alluded to Lang’s role in the series. From the description, it sounds like Lana is currently struggling in her marriage with fire chief Kyle Cushing and regaining contact with Clark may have an impact on their relationship, especially if there is a struggle at hand with her two daughters.
Kreuk, who played the character for seven of the ten seasons on Smallville, sounds enthusiastic about The Passage star taking over the role, referring to her as “wonderful, and very nice,” adding that she’s “excited” to hear about how the show portrays Lana.
