Storm is coming to the MCU: 10 Actresses we want to see play her
10. DeWanda Wise
This is a name some fans might recognize. Those of us geeks that follow casting news remember DeWanda Wise’s name. When WandaVision started looking for an older version of Monica Rambeau, Wise’s name was on the shortlist. Unfortunately, due to scheduling conflicts, the 36-year-old actress wasn’t able to play the role.
Now that the MCU is seemingly inserting the X-Men into its universe, one movie at a time, if Black Panther is a destination for Storm, Wise would be a great choice to play the character. She’s a star on the rise who’s known for her roles in a few Netflix exclusives and she recently co-starred alongside Gina Rodriguez and Brittany Snow in the romcom Someone Great.
Wise is perhaps best known for her role in Netflix’s Spike Lee series She’s Gotta Have It – which was based on a movie with a title of the same name. And she’s now set to star in the upcoming Jurassic World: Dominion.
Let’s hope she’s on the shortlist for Storm and that scheduling conflicts don’t prevent her from taking a role she would definitely shine with.
9. Yaya DaCosta
This is a name comic book movie fans might recognize. The 37-year old actress has seen her name tossed around in quite a few fan-castings. She’s most known for her role as Whitney Houston in Whitney. She currently stars on the medical drama Chicago Med as Nurse April. And despite appearing in films like Nice Guys, The Butler, and the musical drama Bolden, it seems like DaCosta is just scratching the surface of her talents.
DaCosta would kill it as Storm, the powerful tenacity we love about Storm is something she has showcased in her previous roles. She’s also the right age to play the wife of T’Challa if the MCU does decide to give us a Black Panther/Storm union.
