Comic-Con@Home is set to feature a panel on Hulu’s upcoming Marvel series Helstrom.

As most of you geeks and exhibitionists alike know already, the 51st-annual edition of San Diego Comic-Con has been cancelled amid the global pandemic. In its place, however, is the virtual 2020 festival Comic-Con@Home.

Fans are understandably excited for the tidbits that will be released from some of their favorite film and TV companies during the summer event, and now Hulu has unveiled one of the first comic book properties that will be featured. That is none other than Marvel TV series Helstrom.

Ever since Kevin Feige’s promotion to Chief Creative Officer at Marvel, a lot of the focus has shifted from Hulu to Disney Plus, as Marvel Television eventually folded into Marvel Studios. The only project left unscathed on Hulu is the upcoming Marvel’s Helstrom, which according to Deadline, will be among the highlights on Hulu’s slate during Comic-Con@Home.

More from Marvel TV

Marvel’s Helstrom is a forthcoming 10-episode standalone live-action series helmed by Day Break’s Paul Zbyszewski – who has previously worked on Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD. It is centered on the son and daughter of a “mysterious and powerful serial killer” Daimon (Tom Austen) and Ana Helstrom (Sydney Lemmon) – known in Marvel Comics as the Son of Satan and The Devil’s Daughter, respectively. It is produced by Marvel Studios and ABC Signature Studios.

Not much is known about the series as of yet, except that it will step in more of a horror direction as it was initially part of Hulu’s Adventure into Fear block – a franchise set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the focus on more standalone stories in the horror and “chilling” corner of the MCU.

A spin-off featuring Gabriel Luna’s Robbie Reyes from Agents of SHIELD as the frontrunner of a live-action Ghost Rider series was once a part of that Adventure into Fear franchise but it was unfortunately axed. That said, it’s believed that Marvel still has other plans for the property – which may not involve the Terminator: Dark Fate star.

The Helstroms were created by Roy Thomas, Gary Friedrich and John Romita Sr. in 1973 and are half-human/half-demon hybrids born to the demon Marduk Kurios and mortal woman Victoria Hellstrom.

Zbyszewski, who serves as showrunner on the show, is also executive producer alongside Karim Zriek and Jeph Loeb. The series is set to drop on Hulu in late 2020.
