Legends of Tomorrow star would love to play a female Riddler

We love her as Ava Sharpe, but actor Jes Macallan would love to play a different DC Comics character on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.

Jes Macallan joined DC’s Legends of Tomorrow in season 3 and has already become a fan favourite. In season 5, she officially boarded the Waverider to become a Legend.

While we all know and love the character as the team’s co-captain and Sara Lance’s (Caity Lotz) doting girlfriend, Macallan also has her heart set on playing a different character.

During the Wizard World virtual panel with the Legends of Tomorrow cast, Macallan announced that she’s been trying to be ‘the first female Riddler’. Macallan even has a convincing pitch for bringing that character to life!

Can Ava be Riddler on Legends of Tomorrow?

Macallan’s put some thought into how she can play the Riddler in The CWVerse. Legends of Tomorrow is a dimension-hopping, time-travelling show, and it’s given several of the main cast of actors the opportunity to play numerous characters and several versions of their own characters. Macallan has the unique opportunity to be anything – her character Ava is a clone. She was the 12^th clone recruited by the team’s founder, Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill), to join the Time Bureau.

There were still clones of Ava on a future Earth, though they may have been destroyed during Crisis on Infinite Earths. If any remain, it’s possible that one of them went rogue and became a supervillain. Instead of using her intelligence to become a Legend, this other clone took on the mantle of the Riddler.

While the character obviously wouldn’t involve the Batman universe’s Riddler origin story, a Riddler on Legends of Tomorrow has plenty of potential. Fox’s Gotham also reimagined many Bat-verse characters’ origin stories, and many people love those storylines.

It seems like the cast of Legends of Tomorrow is certainly on board with Macallan playing the Riddler. Brandon Routh (Ray Palmer/ Atom) could already see it. Now it’s time for us to see Macallan actually don the iconic green question mark insignia.

Legends of Tomorrow is scheduled to return for season 6 in 2021. Returning cast includes Caity Lotz (Sara Lance/White Canary), Tala Ashe (Zari Tarazi), Jes Macallan (Ava Sharpe), Nick Zano (Nate Heywood), Dominic Purcell (Mick Rory/Heatwave), Matt Ryan (John Constantine), Shayan Sobhian (Behrad Tarazi) and Olivia Swann as Astra Logue.
