Superman/Batman: The Supergirl from Krypton

In replacing Linda Danvers as Supergirl though, DC proceeded to introduce Kara Zor-El back into the DC universe with this storyline from Superman/Batman and it has basically acted as her origin ever since. So really, if this storyline had never have happened, it’s possible that the Supergirl show as it exists right now would not exist in its current form. Or at least, with Kara Zor-El being the lead character on the show.

Basically, this arc does everything you want in both a Supergirl origin as well as a Trinity story. Yes, this is as much a Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman story as it is a Supergirl one. It does a great job of establishing her within the DC universe once again, while also quickly establishing her relationships with every member of the Trinity – especially Superman and Batman. Plus, it also shows just how powerful she is simply by the fact that Darkseid wants her within his throes.

The arc isn’t perfect though as there are issues with the art, specifically with how sexualized Kara is drawn at times. There’s really no reason for the fashion choices at times for her, especially given the fact that she’s supposed to be sixteen.
