Superman’s Henry Cavill plays iconic hero in new Netflix film you need to see
Superman star Henry Cavill trades in his cape and super-powers as he becomes a different iconic hero in Netflix’s upcoming Enola Holmes.
Henry Cavill won fans’ hearts with his incredible leading performance as Clark Kent/Superman in 2013’s reboot Man of Steel. He would later go on to reprise that role in the more divisive Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in 2016 and, finally, the reviled Justice League in 2017. And even though he’s now expected to return to the DCEU in some capacity in the future, he’s busy playing a different legendary hero right now.
That’s right, Cavill will become one of the world’s greatest detectives (no, not that one!) later this year when he portrays the legendary Sherlock Holmes in Netflix’s upcoming Enola Holmes.
The film stars Stranger Things‘ Millie Bobby Brown in the titular role as she portrays Sherlock’s little sister. Based on the book series of the same name by Nancy Springer, the film will follow Enola as she discovers that her beloved mother Eudoria (Helena Bonham Carter) has gone missing.

Though not everyone around her will seem perturbed by Eudroia’s disappearance, Enola will seek out the truth as she takes it upon herself to track her mother down.
The film also stars Sam Claflin, Adeel Akhtar, Fiona Shaw, Frances de la Tour, Burn Gorman, Susie Wokoma and Louis Partridge and is set to hit the streaming service on September 23. Netflix recently released the trailer for the movie and you can watch it below:
With Cavill best-known for playing both Superman in the DCEU and Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher, he now sets his sights on playing another of pop-culture’s most famous heroes. A role that has previously been played by MCU stars Robert Downey Jr. and Benedict Cumberbatch, you can bet fans are excited to see the Man of Steel become the classic detective.
Cavill can next be seen as Superman in Zack Snyder’s heavily-anticipated director’s cut of Justice League which is due to hit HBO Max next year.
