Rumor: The Reverse-Flash won’t be the main villain in The Flash movie
Though Andy Muschietti is drawing from Flashpoint, it seems that the Reverse-Flash may not be the main antagonist in Ezra Miller’s The Flash film.
It finally seems like things are starting to pick up for the live-action The Flash film. At DC FanDome, the creative team and Ezra Miller himself demonstrated concept art featuring the latter’s portrayal of the Scarlet Speedster and Michael Keaton’s Batman from the ’89 film. Now, there is a new rumor circling about the main antagonist of the film.
As reported by Heroic Hollywood, it sounds like director Andy Muschietti will not be using the Reverse-Flash as the primary villain of the movie despite the fact that it is drawing elements from Flashpoint. According to reports, the film has also discarded the war aspect between the Atlanteans and Amazonians, which is understandable, but ousting the sinister high-velocity baddie is quite shocking.

This has yet to be officially confirmed, so right now it remains something of a rumor. If the Eobard Thawne version of Reverse-Flash isn’t in it, the film could always rely on other villainous speedsters like Zoom aka Hunter Zolomon and Savitar to take his place.
The report didn’t confirm which – if any – major antagonist would be replacing him. Previous theories and rumors had suggested that either Reverse-Flash or a gender-swapped Sam Scudder aka Mirror Master would be the main antagonists in the film, but that was never confirmed either.
It seems that, right now, there is still a lot about The Flash film that remains uncertain. But at least we’re beginning to move in the right direction. As we do so, more details should become available.
Before DC FanDome, it was confirmed that Ben Affleck had agreed to reprise his role as the DCEU’s Bruce Wayne aka Batman in the film.
