Friendships in Hollywood are known to turn into feuds. Not for producing powerhouses Hiram Garcia and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

In the last few years, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has been everywhere and has conquered both the big and small screens. From the Fast and Furious franchise to the HBO series Ballers, he has rocked (no pun intended) Hollywood. However, there is one man who has helped his career soar and his name is Hiram Garcia. He is the president of The Rock’s production company Seven Bucks Production and has come to value the wrestler as a close friend.

The Rock and Hiram have known each other for over 20 years and the pair started out as acquaintances before it became more personal when Dwayne dated and later married Dany, Hiram’s sister in 1997. Between then and 2007, the two were brothers-in-law and Garcia became the uncle of The Rock’s eldest daughter, Simone upon her birth in 2001.

Despite Dany and Dwayne’s divorce, Hiram and The Rock remained close friends and even joined Dany in forming Seven Bucks Productions in 2012. Since then, the trio have built an empire across several platforms including film, television, and even podcasting.

During an interview conducted by Variety, Hiram spoke about his 20 year friendship with Dwayne and how they plan to make their upcoming Black Adam film a part of the growing DC Extended Universe.

When can we expect Black Adam to start ptoduction?

Like The Rock, Hiram mentioned in the Variety article that he is a massive Black Adam fan. While he did not give too much away, he said that the cameras will begin rolling in the first quarter of 2021 though he didn’t say specifically when.

He also stated that the journey Teth-Adam will go on during the movie will be “very compelling”. Hiram also discussed the power hierarchy amongst the characters in DC Comics and that the other heroes in the DCEU had better watch out because Black Adam is going to change the dynamic of the superhero ball game.

Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher and the other characters

Hiram even weighed in on the casting of The Fosters star Noah Centineo as Albert Rothstein/Atom Smasher and the other characters to appear in the movie. He said that everyone involved with production including Black Adam director Jaume Collet-Serra have “giant ambitions” with how they want to the other characters including the Justice Society to be portrayed.

More from DCEU

Garcia described the characters being featured in the film as “a fun group of characters that audiences haven’t had the chance to see [on the big screen]'” He also empathized that including Black Adam and a variation of the JSA to the DCEU would be the ideal way to add variety to an already large cast of familiar and some not-so-familiar characters.

A crossover

During the interview, Hiram was asked if Black Adam would cross over with the Shazam! universe. It was also pointed out that Seven Bucks produced that movie which has Hiram, Dany, and Dwayne all serving as executive producers.

Hiram revealed that they have big ambitions for Black Adam and stressed that the character is a part of the universe that contains Shazam. He also mentioned that the groundwork for the characters who will appear in Teth-Adam’s first solo film is still being fleshed out but reassures that fans will be very impressed with how everything goes down.

Though, does this mean Black Adam could cross over into another film, perferably with Shazam? It may happen as soon as the Shazam! sequel or another Justice League movie where Teth-Adam is the antagonist who becomes an antihero.

Black Adam is due to tear into cinemas in December 2021 but it may be pushed to 2022 given when filming begins.
