Multiple members of Justice Society are coming to the upcoming Black Adam film and it looks like we have another member cast.

Reportedly, Aldis Hodge is in final negotiations to play Carter Hall, aka Hawkman, in the DCEU movie Black Adam. Hodge would be the third member of the cast after Dwayne Johnson as the eponymous Black Adam and Noah Centineo as fellow Justice Society member Atom Smasher.

Just earlier this year, Hodge starred in Leigh Whannell’s remake of The Invisible Man. Hodge is also currently starring in the TV series City on the Hill.

But who is Hawkman? Well, that’s a bit complicated. There have been various incarnations of the character in DC Comics throughout the years with some simply being human and others being an alien from a planet called Thanagar. Given that Hodge is reportedly playing the Carter Hall version though, it’s unclear how deep into his backstory Black Adam will go.

More from DCEU

Originally the Egyptian prince Khufu, who, in some incarnations of the comics, knew Black Adam, Carter Hall is the latest reincarnation of Khufu after he, along with his love who later becomes Hawkgirl, was cursed by a priest named Hath-Set.

Really, everything about Hawkman and Hawkgirl/Hawkwoman is so insanely complicated that it’s difficult to get into properly. So, if you’re interested in the history of the character, check out Robert Venditti’s – with artists Bryan Hitch, Fernando Pasarin, and Patrick Oliffe – current comic run on Hawkman which does a solid job of tying his, and Hawkwoman’s, history together.

Now that we have two of the announced JSA’s members cast, we are just waiting to see who is cast as Cyclone to round out the Justice Society trio in Black Adam. There’s plenty of time for them to cast her though as cameras aren’t set to roll until the first quarter of 2021 for Black Adam.
