A new casting description for Moon Knight reveals that Keanu Reeves may be on the wish-list to play the lead in Marvel’s Disney Plus series Moon Knight.

With the upcoming debut of the Jac Schaeffer-helmed six-episode limited series WandaVision co-starring Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany as Scarlet Witch and Vision set to come out at some point in December 2020, our attention turns to the upcoming slate of Marvel Phase Four programming. One of those upcoming MCU shows is, indeed, Moon Knight.

We don’t yet know who will star in the Disney+ series, but as revealed by The Illuminerdi, a new casting description centering on the main protagonist of the Moon Knight series has been unearthed and it may point to who Marvel could be interested in.

The report disclosed that Marvel Studios are in search of “a male between the ages of 40 and 50,” and their interpretation of Marc Spector sounded accurate to the comics. It is as follows:

"“Spector was a former pugilist, mercenary, and CIA agent. He’s double-crossed by his boss, Raoul Bushman, after they find a mysterious archaeological site which Bushman planned to loot for his own selfish means. Near death, Spector comes into contact with Khonshu, an Egyptian moon god, who offers him another chance to live, in return for becoming his avatar on this world. Spector accepts the deal and is reborn with superhuman powers. He then returns to the U.S. and accumulates immense wealth after investing his earnings as a mercenary and becomes the crime-fighter known as “Moon Knight.Spector also created multiple identities, including the alias of millionaire Steven Grant to misdirect people from his mercenary history and Jake Lockley, a low-key taxicab driver that helps him keep a closer ear to the streets and criminal elements.”"

The site also revealed that the casting description makes reference to the fact that they’re interested in an older action hero like Keanu Reeves.

That doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll be cast, but considering that he’s been a favorite of the Moon Knight fan-castings in recent months, it does say a lot.

The Bill & Ted Face the Music and Toy Story 4 star has made a well-deserved comeback in recent years with the action franchise John Wick, and he is arguably more in demand than ever these days. Portraying someone as complex as Moon Knight could be another lucrative opportunity for him as an actor.

More from Disney Plus

The ball is finally starting to roll at Marvel on the Disney+ shows as both She-Hulk and Ms. Marvel just recently found their leads – the latter of which only just cast newcomer Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan.

Moon Knight still is currently locked in the middle of direct to series order and has not moved forward since The Witcher scribe Beau DeMayo was tapped to pen the series a few months back. No update has come out of the writers’ room but sounds like it is rumored to proceed with filming this coming November.
