DCEU: Another huge DC star to reunite with Ezra Miller in The Flash movie
Billy Crudup is in discussions to reprise his role as Henry Allen – father of the Scarlet Speedster – in Ezra Miller’s The Flash.
It has been revealed by The Hollywood Reporter that actor Billy Crudup is currently in talks to return to the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) in the upcoming The Flash movie in a key role.
Crudup previously played the father of Barry Allen/The Flash, Henry Allen, in 2017’s Justice League in a couple of scenes. The veteran – who recently won an Emmy Award for his performance on Apple TV’s The Morning Show – has been linked to The Flash as far back as 2016 but the film has been in its own version of production hell for a number of years as several writers and directors were attached before departing – including Rick Famuyiwa, who cast Crudup in the role and Kiersey Clemons as Iris West, before departing due to “creative differences.”
Crudup himself departed the project the following year after the film went through a series of directors before it finally landed Andy Muschietti. With things now back on track, he is now in the process of making a new deal with Warner Bros. on The Flash.

The film has received a lot of buzz following DC FanDome and the recent announcements which revealed that Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton were due to reprise their respective incarnations of Bruce Wayne/Batman. Rumors also suggested that both Ray Fisher and Gal Gadot were in talks to reprise their roles as Cyborg and Wonder Woman, respectively.
Andy and Barbara Muschietti – the director and producer duo – have joined forces with Bumblebee and Birds of Prey scribe Christina Hodson to produce the film adaptation. Andy is currently making preparations for principal photography to begin in London, England, in 2021.
Like Crudup, Clemons was supposed to make her DCEU debut in Justice League, but her scene was unfortunately scrapped from the theatrical cut. It will be restored in Zack Snyder’s long-awaited Snyder Cut – which is set to debut on HBO Max next year. It is unknown whether or not Clemons will reprise her role of Iris in The Flash as of now.
