Fans have been waiting for news on the Arrow spin-off for weeks and now one of its stars has revealed what she knows about the status of Green Arrow and The Canaries.

Green Arrow and The Canaries has been on the minds of Arrowverse fans for months now. The planned Arrow spin-off has been in development for over a year and, in spite of receiving the best feedback from a critical, fan and ratings point-of-view, we have yet to receive any kind of word on whether or not The CW plans to move ahead with the project.

We know that the project is still very much alive but that hasn’t eased the minds of fans who are longing for it to happen. And now one of the show’s three leading ladies, Arrow‘s Katherine McNamara, has spoken the status of the spin-off.

In an interview with TooFab, the Shadowhunters star was asked if she had any updates on the spin-off, to which she responded:

"“I have no updates… I know, I feel the same way. COVID has unfortunately thrown a monkey wrench into everyone’s timeline, and, you know, they’ve had so much to figure out with how to even possibly make TV anymore.”"

She then followed that up by confirming that she would happily return as Mia Smoak/Queen, adding that she’s not done with the character yet.

From what we’ve learned over the past couple of months, it seems that The CW remains undecided on how to progress with the show and that the delay is likely influenced by the outbreak of the novel coronavirus. Clearly, it has not been shelved or scrapped because they would have made the announcement by now, so the waiting game continues to see whether or not it will be picked up.

Arrow executive producer Marc Guggenheim promised fans an update over the summer, but he followed that up by saying that he was frustrated that The CW had yet to make an announcement about the show’s future and that he couldn’t talk about it until they did.

Green Arrow and The Canaries stars Katie Cassidy, Katherine McNamara and Juliana Harkavy – all of whom played the lead roles in the backdoor pilot episode in January.
