The Falcon and The Winter Soldier will bring back stars from the MCU’s early days, but who are we expecting to see?

For the first time in over a decade, Marvel Cinematic Universe fans won’t be able to experience a new entry in the franchise on the big screen as the outbreak of the novel coronavirus pushed the MCU’s two planned installments, Black Widow and Eternals, to next year. However, the MCU will make its presence felt on the small screen before the year’s out with Disney Plus show WandaVision arriving in December. And that will be followed by The Falcon and The Winter Soldier next year.

Starring Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan – both of whom are reprising their roles from the MCU films as Sam Wilson/Falcon and Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier – the six-part miniseries will play a major role in Phase Four of Marvel Studios’ shared universe, with the duo set to carry on the legacy of Captain America, Steve Rogers – who checked out of the superhero business in Avengers: Endgame.

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier to bring back early MCU stars

We know Mackie and Stan will be in the show – and we also know that Daniel Brühl, Emily VanCamp and Georges St-Pierre will be returning as Baron Helmut Zemo, Agent Sharon Carter and Georges Batroc – but it also seems like The Falcon and The Winter Soldier will be bringing back some more familiar faces.

Writer Derek Kolstad recently spoke on the Script Apart podcast and teased some of what fans can expect from the upcoming MCU series, adding that there are “characters from the earliest Marvel movies that are coming back” and that they are “layering them in and reinventing them in a way that’s gonna shift the storytelling structure.”

Whoever pops up, it certainly sounds like The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is going to be a who’s who of MCU vets. Chris Evans cameo, anyone?
