WandaVision fan theories: Scarlet Witch Is WandaVision’s Villain

Anyone who is familiar with Scarlet Witch’s comic book background knows that she is capable of playing both the hero and villain at times with devastating results. And if one takes into consideration the fact that her brother was killed in Sokovia, her lover Vision dies outside Wakanda, and the fact that she was imprisoned like an animal on the Raft, she may not be very interested in being an Avenger anymore.

Some have connected a theory that the villain of the series won’t be a demonic entity or even the rumored Agatha Harkness, but it will, in fact, be Wanda herself. The promotional material leaves viewers to believe that Kathryn Han’s character, who could be Scarlet Witch’s mentor from the comics, could be the show’s signature evildoer. But this could be a fake-out the same way Iron Man 3 tricked fans with The Mandarin switch.

It would not be hard for MCU followers to accept the fact that Scarlet Witch may lose her way and subscribe to evil in her series. This could also be the reason for the apparent S.W.O.R.D. involvement rumored to be happening in the Disney+ original.

Wanda could be keeping Vision trapped in this fabricated reality against his will in order to maintain the perfect fantasy and escape her troubled past. Vision, being the supremely intelligent being that he is, may push Wanda to stop altering reality to bring back what they once had and finally let him go if he knew what was really going on. If this holds up, it would mean that not only is WandaVision going to be something truly unique, but it will also feature a powerful story about the struggles of getting over trauma and loss.
