Slade Wilson actor Joe Manganiello took to social media to unveil an up close and fresh look at Deathstroke Thursday.

The deadly mercenary is sporting a mohawk along with his signature eyepatch in the photo posted by Manganiello on Twitter – that gives fans a new look at him in DCEU film Zack Snyder’s Justice League. He shared it as part of a campaign to raise money for The Autumn Snyder Tribute Fund.

Until now it was not confirmed that Manganiello would be part of additional filming for the Snyder Cut of Justice League, but this image seems to confirm new Deathstroke scenes were indeed shot. The new hair-do could be nothing more than a fresh look, or we could read the tea leaves as to what it means. The latter sounds a lot more fun.

It is unclear at this point if the mohawk is a nod to a past iteration of Deathstroke. Snyder has already given us some new takes on classic characters, such as the wild-maned Aquaman played by Jason Momoa and the post-apocalyptic “Knightmare” Batman.

What kind of role will Deathstroke play in Zack Snyder’s Justice League?

Assuming some version of Manganiello’s post-credits scene with Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor remains intact, it could be possible a mohawk-clad Deathstroke appears at another point in the film. Could a Mad Max-esque hairstyle hint at Wilson appearing in a “Knightmare” sequence? What could be more of a nightmare for Ben Affleck’s Batman than seeing one of his greatest foes aligned with Superman?

More from DCEU

Of course Deathstroke isn’t always a villain. He is a mercenary, killer-for-hire, up for the highest bidder after all. Who could bid higher than even Lex Luthor? Well, Bruce Wayne for one. Deathstroke famously fell on the side of good in the Flashpoint timeline. Could we see Wilson fight alongside the Justice League in their battle against Steppenwolf and Darkseid.

With our first new look at Deathstroke, we patiently wait for images of Jared Leto’s Joker to be teased. It was recently confirmed the Clown Prince of Crime will also receive a makeover for Snyder’s Justice League which comes to HBO Max early in 2021.
