Kevin Feige confirmed Tatiana Maslany as the lead in the She-Hulk Disney+ series and revealed that Tim Roth will reprise his role as Abomination.

The Disney 2020 Investor Day presentation shocked fans with a number of reveals on the latest content from the both Marvel Studios and Lucasfilm – much of which will roll over onto Disney+.

Of the film and TV productions confirmed to be in Phase Four and beyond in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel’s She-Hulk was the most ambiguous in terms of casting. However, President of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige has confirmed some of the casting and talent onboard the She-Hulk Disney+ series.

News reports had gone back and forth in terms of the apparent casting of Orphan Black’s Tatiana Maslany as the lead, but it was finally confirmed that Maslany will indeed play Jennifer Walters and her green-skinned alter-ego She-Hulk.

In even more shocking news, it was revealed that Mark Ruffalo and Tim Roth will reprise their roles as Dr Bruce Banner aka the Hulk and Emil Blonsky aka the Abomination, respectively. The latter casting was indeed a surprise as Roth’s Blonsky has not been seen since way back in Phase One of the MCU in the Louis Leterrier-helmed ’08 motion picture The Incredible Hulk.

Behind the scenes, Roth always wanted to return in subsequent instalments in the MCU and at one point was considered to appear in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Blonsky was hired by (then General) Thaddeus Ross to detain Dr Bruce Banner when he was classed a fugitive by the government. In order to combat Banner’s alter-ego, the Hulk, the former Special Forces soldier was subjected to doses of a replicated version of the Super Soldier Serum.

Drunk with power, Blonsky was infused with Banner’s gamma-irradiated blood overseen by Dr Samuel Sterns and mutated into the grotesque Abomination. Hulk bested the Abomination – who was then in SHIELD custody and locked in the Vault.

Jessica Gao will serve as the She-Hulk showrunner, with Dana Schwartz writing the series and Kat Coiro and Anu Valia directing. Gao, Coiro and Feige are all credited as executive producers.
