The new Batman has arrived and he’s ready to make history
The Next Batman is rightfully a person of color but he’s also a familiar face from DC’s past.
The upcoming DC Future State has kept DC Comics fans intrigued for quite some time now and one of the many reasons for that was the confirmation that it would introduce a new Batman. Now, that Caped Crusader has finally been revealed.
As reported by Polygon, the identity of the new Dark Knight in The Next Batman is none other than Tim Fox – the youngest son of Wayne Enterprises CEO Lucius Fox and brother of Luke Fox aka Batwing.
Who is the new Batman?
Writer John Ridley teased fans with the identity of the new hero for some time and had suggested he would be a person of color. It was subsequently confirmed through this reveal as a variant cover featured Tim Fox himself unmasked and carrying the mask in his hand.

Fox’s family has close ties with the Waynes through Lucius. Tim was introduced in DC Comics during Batman No. 313 in 1979. During the issue, Tim joined a gang led by Ron Watkins. Watkins, of course, worked for a corrupt international businessman, Gregorian Falstaff, who was a competitor of Bruce Wayne and sought to orchestrate a hostile takeover of Wayne Enterprises under the instruction of Ra’s al Ghul.
Tim’s association with Watkins caused him to be estranged from his father, Lucius, who was embarrassed by his occasional crimes. He recently returned to the Fox family during Batman: The Joker War Zone anthology. Now, he becomes the Dark Knight of the Future.
Once the DC Future State miniseries has wrapped, Tim will next appear in Batman: Black & White in which he will receive a new sidekick.
