Todd McFarlane teases the household names we can expect in Spawn reboot
Image Comics co-founder and Spawn creator Todd McFarlane has given a recent update in relation to the upcoming reboot.
Back during the summer, Todd McFarlane confirmed at Comic-Con@Home that the long-planned Spawn reboot is “still happening” and going “full steam ahead.” Now he has more updates to share. Speaking at CCXP Worlds via Omelete (H/T: Comicbook.com), he announced that there was more progress made on the film during the quarantine period.
McFarlane has been rather coy and is keeping some of these teased household names close to his chest. Jamie Foxx will reportedly play the titular character of Spawn – who is more of a presence than a central character of the overall film. The co-founder of Image previously compared his character to the shark in Jaws.
Jeremy Renner, who is set to headline Marvel’s Disney Plus show Hawkeye, is already connected to the film reboot as Detective Twitch Williams. No actor has been cast as Sam Burke (Twitch’s companion) yet but at this moment we can’t be certain that the character will be included in the movie.

McFarlane will be making his directorial debut from a screenplay he has written. Jason Blum of Blumhouse Productions is producing the film.
Back in August, the Spawn creator revealed that progress was being made with the reboot and that he had also attended meetings with TV directors about the possibility of adapting more properties from Image Comics. With the adult-themed, animated superhero drama series Invincible set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video in 2021, expect more properties from the same comic publisher to make their way to screens in the future.
