Arrow’s Katherine McNamara has shared yet another update on the status of Green Arrow and The Canaries.

Katherine McNamara has been doing some press lately for her role in the CBS All-Access adaptation of Stephen King’s The Stand but it’s becoming increasingly clear that there is one question on everyone’s minds: Has Green Arrow and The Canaries been picked up?

Is Green Arrow and The Canaries coming to The CW in 2021?

Having already been asked about the status of the Arrowverse spin-off a number of times recently, she was once again asked if she had any updates in an interview with ComicBook.com. The Arrow star smiled and threw her hands up the air, reiterating that she doesn’t know what’s going on with the show but once again added that she’s still up for playing her character Mia Queen in the future.

"“I mean, if they ever want me in any iteration of Mia Smoak, I’m there… I’m not done with her yet. So, if they will have me I will be there. But I think the pandemic just threw a monkey wrench into everything.”"

McNamara portrayed Mia in the seventh season of Arrow before she was promoted to a series regular for the eighth and final season.

She played the role, alongside Katie Cassidy and Juliana Harkavy – who portrayed two versions of the Black Canary in Earth-2 Laurel Lance and Earth-1 Dinah Drake – in the penultimate episode which served as a backdoor pilot for the potential spin-off.

“Green Arrow and The Canaries” received praise from both critics and fans, gaining Arrow its highest non-crossover viewing figures in a year, clearly setting the stage for the spin-off to be commissioned. As of May, it was confirmed to be “very much alive”, but after a number of teases from former Arrow producer Marc Guggenheim, there has been radio silence since August.

The fans continue to voice their support online and justifiably so. Here’s hoping that Green Arrow and The Canaries will be greenlit by The CW in the new year.
