Spider-Man 3: 5 Amazing Spider-Man actors who should appear in the MCU film
With rumors suggesting that both Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield will cameo in Spider-Man 3, let’s look at five actors from The Amazing Spider-Man film series who should appear in the MCU film.
With filming of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Spider-Man 3 currently now underway, there has been a lot of speculation about former Spider-Man actors, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, possibly entering the fray in some kind of cameo role. This has all come about ever since Jamie Foxx was announced to be playing a slightly different form of his character Maxx Dillon/Electro in the upcoming movie than the one he previously portrayed in Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
So far, Sony nor Marvel have dismissed the rumors of Maguire and Garfield joining the fray, they only really reiterated that both castings are not confirmed – meaning it is not ruled out completely. Though we can still class it as a rumor, it is looking more likely that some previous Spider-Man actors will be showing up – especially now that we know Foxx’s Electro and Spider-Man 2‘s Doctor Octopus, Alfred Molina, will be featured.
What is actually, indeed, fascinating about the production of Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 is that it also includes Benedict Cumberbatch, who is set to reprise his role of Doctor Strange in the Spider-Man: Far From Home sequel. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness directed by Sam Raimi (who also directed Maguire’s original Spider-Man trilogy) will follow that up in 2022, and will tie in with both the WandaVision and the Loki Disney+ series.
Since the MCU is set to expand the existing franchise and will cover multiversal themes, Garfield and Maguire appearing as their own incarnations of Spider-Man may not be so farfetched – especially when you consider at least one of their respective villains are.
At this moment, Garfield seems like more of a safe bet than Maguire, but that will likely change. In the meantime, let’s use that rumor to look at five of the best actors from The Amazing Spider-Man series who should show up in the MCU’s Spider-Man 3.
