Marvel: 10 things we must see from the MCU’s Wolverine
By Mark Lynch
4. Wolverine is emotional
There are certain people in the X-Men that helped define Wolverine’s legacy. Among them are characters like Storm, Nightcrawler, Kitty Pryde, and Jubilee. Each of them helped show a side of Logan that many people don’t know about – the part of him that’s emotional. Logan is known to be an angry, snarling killing machine but he’s really much more than that.
Logan’s anger and rage made him incredibly popular for sure, but it was the other parts of his character that made him loveable. Logan took younger characters and helped raise them. He helped Kitty Pryde overcome the possession by his old martial arts teacher Ogun. After that, Logan and Kitty became more like siblings than just teammates. When he opened his school, Logan brought Quentin Quire with him. Despite Quentin being a known terrorist, Logan saw that Quentin could be more. In the end, Logan helped make him a hero.
Among the more veteran X-Men, you have Nightcrawler and Storm. Nightcrawler helped Logan become a better man. He was one of only people who always looked at Logan as a man and not a beast. Nightcrawler , in particular, is a big reason why Logan believes he can be a better person. Then we have Storm – a woman who Logan trained when she lost her powers, trusts with his life, and has a special place in his heart. Their love was inspiring. This writer truly believes their love works even better than Storm’s relationship with T’Challa.
With all that in mind, it’s clear to see why we need a layered portrayal of Wolverine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – one that isn’t afraid to be in touch with his emotions from time-to-time.
