Jared Leto’s Joker takes center stage in brand new Suicide Squad footage
By Liam Clark
The director of the infamous 2016 film Suicide Squad released an unreleased clip featuring Jared Leto’s Joker on his Instagram story.
David Ayer’s Suicide Squad infamously released to poor reviews, with many of the main critiques stemming from the DCEU movie’s poor story, weak characters and the utilisation of The Joker.
Many fans felt that the film was an injustice to The Joker, as many of the scenes featuring the character were cut out of the film, while the relationship between him and Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) was painted as a happy relationship.
Many of the most alluring moments from the original trailers featured Leto’s Joker, however many of these scenes were left on the cutting room floor.
Is the Ayer Cut of Suicide Squad happening?
While James Gunn is releasing a soft-reboot of the franchise this year with his adaptation titled The Suicide Squad, many fans have been clamouring for more of Leto’s Joker to be put on display, with Ayer releasing a short clip to his Instagram story of a cutscene.

Fans spread the piece across social media, in the hopes of sparking Warner Bros. to release a cut of Ayer’s version of Suicide Squad, as Ayer stated on Twitter that Warner Bros. had cut the first 40 minutes of his film.
While Ayer’s Cut may never see the light of day, fans can see characters from the first film such as Harley Quinn, Rick Flagg and Captain Boomerang return in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad which is due to release in theatres and on HBO Max on the 4th August.
Meanwhile, for fans hoping to see more of Leto’s Joker, the Clown Prince of Crime shall be appearing in Zack Snyder’s directors cut of Justice League due to be released in March on HBO Max.
