3. Ultron/Quicksilver Namedrop

Although it was likely that we would get some sort of callback to Wanda’s brother Pietro Maximoff/Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) in the series, the namedrop of Ultron was both haunting and perfect.

This occurs when Wanda gives birth to the twins and is watching over them in their crib. She tells “Geraldine” that she was also a twin and she had a brother named Pietro. Wanda’s comments sparked a realisation in Geraldine (who we all know is actually Monica Rambeau) as she realises that Pietro is Quicksilver and was killed in Avengers: Age of Ultron by the murderous robot (who was voiced by the brilliant James Spader).

Pietro and Ultron being name-dropped are obviously big triggers for Wanda, who for a moment seems to snap out of this reality. There have been rumors that Quicksilver will return in WandaVision, with both Aaron Taylor-Johnson and X-Men’s Evan Peters being rumoured to play the role.

It would certainly be a strong moment for Wanda to meet her brother once again, however having Ultron appear in the series could also be a powerful moment for her to deal with. This name-drop of the two characters is surely not the last we’ll hear of either character, considering the effect they both had on Wanda’s life.
