1. Aldis Hodge

One of the fastest rising stars in Hollywood is Aldis Hodge. Appearing in over 45 features, he has already done a lot in his career but what better way to catapult him to superstardom than playing the Kryptonian hero?

He’s no stranger to playing a larger-than-life character. Hodge played Jim Brown in Regina King’s One Night In Miami. And you want to see the softer side of him, look no further than What men Want – in which he played a single father and love interest to Taraji P. Henson’s character, Ali.

He also starred in the Ben Affleck-produced Showtime series City on a Hill, playing District Attorney Decourcy Ward in a hero-like role. He teams with a by-the-books FBI Agent (Kevin Bacon) to take down Boston’s corrupt system.

The 34-year-old actor is old enough to play a version of Superman that is now a vet in the superhero game. It’s easy to imagine this version of Superman as a hero who’s also well-established as a reporter in the Daily Planet, but still young enough to not quite handle the idea of revealing his identity to those closest to him. Warner Bros could even reunite Regina King and Hodge by putting her in the director’s chair.

If his name sounds familiar to DCEU fans, that’s because he’s set to play Hawkman in Black Adam but as this Superman reboot isn’t expected to be tied to the DCEU, he should definitely be given the chance to bring the Man of Steel to life.
