Injustice: Gods Among Us is finally getting the movie treatment it deserves
By Mark Lynch
Injustice: Gods Among Us is finally becoming an animated movie project!
Injustice: Gods Among Us was an extremely popular video game. The story was what drew people in. The idea that The Joker kills Lois Lane and, in return, Superman kills him was shocking to everyone playing (and watching). What was even more surprising was the idea that Superman became a despot, ruling the world and becoming everything that he once stood against.
Superman wasn’t alone in this fight. With him was Wonder Woman, the Flash (Barry Allen), Green Lantern (Hal Jordan), Robin (Damian Wayne), and other heroes and villains. Opposing him was the Insurgency led by Batman with Catwoman, Black Canary, Green Arrow, Harley Quinn, and more joining him.
The successful game led to a popular comic book series that told the story of what happened before, during, and after the game. The popularity of the series has continued to increase ever since – so much so that DC Comics and Warner Bros. have announced that an Injustice: Gods Among Us animated movie is being developed.
Injustice: Gods Among Us will be DC’s next animated movie
IGN.com reports that the Injustice movie was revealed during the press release for Batman: The Long Halloween, Part Two and that Warner Bros. Animation and DC have not made a formal announcement about its existence just yet. Nonetheless, a trailer will feature on the Blu-Ray release of the upcoming Batman movie.

If this writer is being honest, it’s shocking that this took so long. Injustice is one of the most popular comic book stories of all time and the fact that the game spawned a comic book series that gave fans new versions of their favorite heroes and villains – some of which were even better than their original versions – highlights that.
As of now, we don’t when or where Injustice: Gods Among Us is coming. What this writer does know is that it’ll be a success. You won’t have to be a fan of comic books or the game to get excited about this. The story alone is enough to get people intrigued. If we’re lucky, this will come out before the year is over.
Don’t be shocked if this becomes an HBO Max exclusive. A project to get the ball rolling on an entire platform of DC Comics animated features. Hopefully, they don’t pull a Batman: The Killing Joke and ruin the story by changing too much of the source material.
