Danny Rand is no longer the Iron Fist in the final issue of Iron Fist: Heart of the Dragon.

Danny Rand has been the primary Iron Fist of the Marvel Comics universe since the 1970s. He’s used it to fend off legions of ninjas, multiple supervillains and even punched a Hulk with it. It’s also helped him save the world.

One thing that Danny has done over the years is realize that he’s more than just his powers. He isn’t defined by his powers or the gifts that he’s capable of because of them. Now, however, he’ll have to find out the full extent of that as Danny no longer has the chi power of the Iron Fist.

Danny Rand is no longer Iron Fist

At the end of Iron Fist: Heart of the Dragon, Danny gave his power to Okoye to defeat Hierophant. After the threat was defeated, Okoye tried to give Danny his chi back but he informed her that it doesn’t work like that. He reveals that it’s hers now and that he wasn’t good at it in the first place. Okoye reminds him that she has a duty to Wakanda and that this is not her destiny. Thus, the story ends with Okoye the putting power back into an undying dragon egg, continuing the cycle.

More from Comics

Danny Rand wasn’t close to being the first Iron Fist and he certainly won’t be the last. As we saw from the end of Iron Fist: Heart of the Dragon, the power is there, it just doesn’t have a human host. One day, that power will be given to someone else. And one option for that someone else is Pei – Danny’s sidekick… sort of.

Luke Cage asked Danny what he was going to do with his life. He simply responded by saying that he would “Live it to its fullest.”

It’s not likely that Danny Rand will be without the Iron Fist forever. Although, it could be interesting if he never gets it back. We could see him training a new Iron Fist instead – someone who could potentially be even better and more creative with the powers than anyone before them. With everything Danny has learned, he could ensure that the next generation does a better job than he did. Plus, we can now see how good Danny really is without the power to break a mountain with his fists.

What do you think? Should Danny Rand get the Iron Fist power back or is it time for some new blood? Let us know in the comments below.
