Out of Marvel’s Heroes Reborn comes Mephisto and the Red Council.
The road to Heroes Reborn started back in the prehistoric days because Mephisto can play with time like we drive cars. He knew that the Avengers were going to be a problem and this led him to try to collect souls and blood throughout time so that he could create a world without The Avengers in it. He succeeded.
In his new world, Phil Coulson is President of the United States, The Squadron Supreme are the universe’s mightiest heroes and Mephisto is America’s one true god.
For some reason, Blade was the only person who remembered the world as it used to be. After collecting what Avengers he could, he and his team set out to put the world back to the way it was. They succeeded. However, it now turns out that Blade wasn’t the only one who remembered the world that Mephisto and Phil Coulson created.
Among those who remembered were Squadron Supreme. Power Princess, Blur, and Doctor Spectrum were in government custody with no idea who they are or if they were real. They didn’t have fingerprints or belly buttons. Hyperion, meanwhile, was confused on what to do while Nighthawk wanted to set the world back to how it was before.
Then there’s Mephisto. He’s currently in Hell with 615 different versions of himself. Now, he says that he accomplished all of this by himself. Imagine what he can do with 615 more?
Why Mephisto’s Council of Red is major for Marvel
Marvel fans have been obsessed with Mephisto since WandaVision, with many of them expecting him to show up in that series. It’s an obsession that has been warranted. He’s one of the biggest baddies in Marvel Comics. Considering he reshaped the world, that adds to his already high level potential.

Now, imagine a being with that much power and add 615 more of them from different dimensions; all with different powers, skills, and personalities. This could very well be a future event perfectly suited for writer Jason Aaron.
Whatever the Council of Red is planning will likely involve multiple Earths. And just like the Heroes Reborn story, it’s going to take time. Jason Aaron is a master at the long game. War of the Realms took years to tell. It involved Thor not being worthy and becoming a drunk, future and past stories of the Odinson, and Jane Foster becoming Thor. If we have a Mephisto Council of Red crossover, it too will be worth the long wait. Good things are worth being patient for.
