Moon Knight No. 1 shows a new life and problems for Khonshu’s Fist.

Moon Knight has always been one of Marvel‘s most unique characters to say the least. First of all, no one knows whether or not his god Khonshu is real – this is despite him almost taking over the world (read Avengers: The Age of Khonshu for more on that). Then, there’s the fact that he seems to absorb pain better than most; it’s almost like he needs it to win fights. All of this makes him one of the most interesting characters in Marvel Comics.

His new series, written by Jed MacKay, has debuted. After everything that happened with Dr. Elisa Warsame (see Moon Knight written by Warren Ellis) taking over his mantle, taking the Avengers’ powers, and becoming the Phoenix for a bit, his next adventure would have to immediately turn heads to keep up. Well, good news Moon Knight fans: Jed MacKay starts this series off perfectly.

Moon Knight is the protector of the night travelers

The series begins with someone looking for Mr. Knight (one of Moon Knight’s many personalities). He reveals that people have gone missing on his block and that vampires have been kidnapping and turning people. Of course, Moony is on the case and, after killing their kidnappers, he lets the innocent people live. After all, he’s the protector of the travelers of the night and they were victims. But it doesn’t end there as one of the vampires becomes his receptionist/operator. She says it’s because they keep the same hours but, secretly, you can tell she likes what he does.

Moon Knight has painted crescent moons around his neighborhood. This isn’t just him marking his territory; it’s a sign for the people of the community. He’s letting them know that he’s here to help and that they’re safe. And stopping vampires wasn’t his only job. Others have come to Moon Knight and the Midnight Mission in need of help with their own issues.

However, while he’s helping the best he can, there are other followers of Khonshu who aren’t happy with him.

New advisories

Moon Knight seems to be getting into the swing of things. He’s keeping the neighborhood clean (he was literally sweeping the streets) and the people coming to him have his trust. Of course, there will always be doubters. This time, it’s someone who says that he’s part of Khonshu’s flock. His name is Doctor Badr and he’s disappointed in one of Khonshu’s Fist.

More from Digital Comics

Moony may think he’s the fist, but Dr. Badr makes it clear that he’s only one of them. Moreover, the issue ends with Dr. Badr putting on a black Khonshu vestment mask in a room full of weapons. Moon Knight has forsaken his moon god, but kept the vestments and the mission. Now, it’s looking likely that the two will butt heads at some point soon, most likely in issue No. 2.

But that’s not all that’s going on here. There is someone else going after Moon Knight as well – someone who claims that Moon Knight is missing his potential and that he’s going to break his faith. This person hasn’t revealed themselves yet; all we know is that they’re monitoring him across the street from the Midnight Mission. However, one thing is quite telling: He used the word “bespoke” – a British adjective. Maybe Moon Knight’s newest antagonist is a British Marvel Comics villain.

One thing is for certain, Moon Knight and all of his personalities have a lot of work coming up. Mystical beings, helping the community, a new vampire partner and two new enemies are a lot for anyone. With Moon Knight though, he hasn’t been known for keeping it together. We’ll have to see if things will be different for Khonsu’s Fist this time around.

Next. Marvel just killed off another major character with a twist. dark
