Agents of SHIELD alum, Chloe Bennet, has dropped out of The Powerpuff Girls before the pilot has been retooled.

It seems the peculiar live-action TV adaptation of The Powerpuff Girls fleetingly titled Powerpuff have lost their Blossom in former Agents of SHIELD star, Chloe Bennet, as per Variety.

Not long ago, Powerpuff was announced as one of a bevy of superhero dramas to roll under The CW Network. So far, only Naomi was picked up to series while the Black Lightning spin-off, Painkiller, was cancelled and a potential Wonder Girl project featuring Yara Flor did not move forward.

Whereas, back in May it was declared the pilot for The Powerpuff Girls reboot was not picked up (for now) by The CW and is being reworked of which the original pilot was executive produced and directed by Maggie Kiley. The series is re-imagining the teeny, adorable yet powerhouse chibi-like superheroes as heroic, world-weary twenty-somethings whose childhood were ruined.

Born with the surname of Wang, Bennet was cast in the role of Blossom (the creation and daughter) of her father Professor Utonium back in March along with Dove Cameron as Bubbles and Yana Perrault as Buttercup. While the latter two at the time of this report are still attached, Bennet, unfortunately, had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts.

It was stated Warner Bros. Television wanted to extend Bennet’s option once the pilot was retooled but the conflicts in her schedule forced her out. A replacement is underway for the role of Blossom as Powerpuff remains in pre-production.

Powerpuff stars Dove Cameron, Yana Perrault, Donald Faison, Tom Kenny, Robyn Lively, and Nicholas Podany.

Diablo Cody and Heather Regnier are writing the series and serve as showrunners. Cody, Regnier, Maggey Kiley, Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and David Madden are executive producers. Erika Kennair is attached as producer.

Powerpuff is produced by Berlanti Productions and Vita Vera Films in association with Warner Bros. Television. No release date has been confirmed.
