Batwoman

Batwoman had a reinvention forced upon itself after former lead Ruby Rose departed the show, meaning that when it returned from that lengthy 2020 hiatus for its second season, fans were essentially seeing a second season 1. But what a reinvention it ultimately proved to be.

Javicia Leslie put on the cape and cowl as newcomer Ryan Wilder decided to use the Batwoman mantle to dish out some justice of her own, but when that directly put her in the crosshairs of the Bat Family, she decided to really make a go of being Gotham City’s new hero. With that, she found herself taking on threats such as Black Mask, Circe Sionis and even some zombies, all while the team tried to find out what happened to the original Scarlet Knight Kate Kane.

Batwoman was already full of potential (so much more than that baffling first trailer would have had you believe) but it didn’t take long to see the life that Javicia Leslie breathed into it in the second season. While Ryan did occasionally take a backseat to the mystery of Kate’s disappearance in season 2, she took her rightful place at the forefront of the show for its third season – which is on track to becoming the show’s best outing yet.

One of the most underrated TV shows today, Batwoman doesn’t get nearly enough credit, but it is, without question, deserving of it.
